Both Invisalign and braces are orthodontic treatment. The main difference is Invisalign is using removable aligners, where braces are using fixed brackets with a series of wires. Both work well when it is properly planned and executed. When to use Invisalign or braces depends on the doctor's knowledge and experience. Not all cases are for Invisalign, so having more than one consultation is not a bad idea.
